OXNARD, CA — April 2, 2026 — In a dramatic Western State Conference showdown, Oxnard College Softball delivered a thrilling late-game comeback to defeat Cuesta, 6–5, on Friday afternoon. The Condors overcame a five-run seventh-inning surge by Cuesta with a clutch walk-off hit to secure the victory at home.
Oxnard (WSC) struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on a Cuesta error to take an early 1–0 lead. The Condors added to their advantage in the fourth, plating three runs—again aided by defensive miscues—to build a 4–0 cushion heading into the final frame.
Behind a steady performance in the circle from Amber Cervantez, Oxnard carried that lead into the seventh inning. Cervantez went the distance, allowing five runs on five hits while striking out three.
Cuesta mounted a furious rally in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on timely hits, including a two-RBI single from Cierra Cloud, to take a 5–4 lead and silence the home crowd.
In the bottom half, Cervantez sparked the rally, and Isabela Nava's aggressive baserunning helped put Oxnard in position. With two runners on, Jiselle Garcia delivered the decisive blow—a two-RBI single that brought home Cervantez and Nava, sealing the 6–5 walk-off victory.
Garcia led the offensive charge with three RBIs, while Marylou Flores added two RBIs of her own. Nava scored twice and contributed an RBI, continuing her strong presence at the top of the lineup.
Despite being outhit 5–5, Oxnard capitalized on six Cuesta errors, turning defensive opportunities into crucial runs.
The Condors' defense also came up big when it mattered most, turning a key double play to limit damage earlier in the game.
With the win, Oxnard continues to build momentum in WSC play and will look to carry that energy into their next conference matchup. They will play a DH on Friday against LA Harbor from 11:00 and then travel to Allan Hancock College on April 14th from 2:00 pm.
Go Condors!
