San Luis Obispo, CA – March 10, 2026 — The Oxnard College Condors opened Western State Conference (WSC) play with a comeback victory on the road Tuesday afternoon, defeating Cuesta College 3–2 behind a complete-game performance from sophomore pitcher Amber Cervantez.
After falling behind early, the Condors showed resilience, scoring twice in the top of the seventh inning to secure their first conference win of the season. Oxnard improves to 4–12 overall and 1–0 in WSC play, while Cuesta drops to 6–17 overall and 0–2 in conference action.
Cuesta struck first in the opening inning when Cierra Cloud delivered an RBI triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly to give the home team a 2–0 advantage.
The Condors answered in the third inning when Taetum Bill launched a solo home run to cut the deficit to 2–1, igniting the Oxnard offense.
With the game still tight heading into the final inning, Oxnard delivered the decisive blow. Marylou Flores and Samantha Cervantes reached base to set the stage for Cervantez, who helped her own cause by ripping a clutch two-RBI double to left field, giving the Condors their first lead of the game at 3–2.
Cervantez then shut the door in the bottom half of the seventh to secure the victory. The sophomore right-hander threw a complete game, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out seven and walking two to earn the win.
Offensively, Oxnard collected seven hits on the afternoon. Cervantez led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Isabela Nava added two hits, while Marylou Flores, Samantha Cervantes, and Taetum Bill each contributed a hit, with Bill's solo home run providing an early spark.
The Condors will look to build momentum as Western State Conference play continues this week when they host Moorpark College at 2:00 in the Nest.
