The Oxnard College softball team battled back to earn a 2–1 walk-off victory over Rio Hondo on Thursday afternoon at Oxnard.
OXNARD, Calif. — The Oxnard College softball team battled back to earn a dramatic 2–1 walk-off victory over Rio Hondo on Thursday afternoon at Oxnard.
After falling behind early, the Condors showed resilience and timely hitting to secure the comeback win in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Rio Hondo took a 1–0 lead in the first inning when Alyssa Pallan stole home to put the Roadrunners ahead. Oxnard starter Taetum Bill settled in after the early run, delivering a strong outing in the circle. Bill pitched six innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out six.
Oxnard evened the game in the fifth inning when Alizsa Rosas delivered a clutch RBI double, bringing home Isabela Nava to tie the contest at 1–1.
The Condors sealed the win in the bottom of the eighth inning. After reaching base earlier in the inning, Taetum Bill came around to score on a game-winning RBI single by Alizabeth Rosas, giving Oxnard the 2–1 victory.
Offensively, Oxnard collected eight hits on the afternoon. Jiselle Garcia led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, while Marylou Flores, Amber Cervantez, Isabela Nava, Alizsa Rosas, and Alizabeth Rosas each added hits.
In relief, Amber Cervantez was dominant, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out three batters to keep Rio Hondo off the board and set up the walk-off finish.
With the win, the Condors continue to build momentum as they move deeper into the season.
