The Oxnard College Athletic Department proudly hosted its 5th Annual Hall of Fame Celebration, sponsored by the Oxnard College Foundation and Dr. Carolyn Inouye (HOF class 2025), honoring three distinguished inductees whose accomplishments and service have left a lasting legacy on Condor Athletics and the community.
The evening was highlighted by emotional speeches and heartfelt tributes from family members, colleagues, and friends who gathered to celebrate the lives and achievements of this year's Hall of Fame class. The event created a memorable atmosphere filled with pride, gratitude, and reflection on the powerful impact athletics has on shaping lives and communities.
Among the inductees was former women's soccer standout Norma Gutierrez, one of the premier players in program history and a foundational contributor to the early success of Oxnard College Women's Soccer. A standout center midfielder, Gutierrez earned recognition as Team Captain, Team MVP, and All-Conference performer while helping establish a culture of excellence within the program. Following Oxnard College, she continued her playing career on scholarship at California State University Dominguez Hills, where she returned from injury to serve as team captain in her senior season. Gutierrez also represented the Mexico Women's National Team during her playing career. Today, she serves as Vice President of Treasury for a midsize company while continuing to mentor and support young athletes through coaching and involvement in her daughters' soccer careers.
The evening also honored George Peraza with the Lifetime Condor Award for his decades of service and commitment to Oxnard College Athletics and education. Peraza has served the college in numerous roles, including Assistant Baseball Coach, Head Baseball Coach, and Head Softball Coach, leading the 2008 softball team to a Southern California State Playoff appearance. Beyond the field, he has served as a Ventura County Community College District adjunct faculty member since 1974 and continues to impact student-athletes throughout the region as the Southern California 3C2A Baseball Commissioner. His lifelong dedication to education, mentorship, and athletics has positively influenced generations of Condors.
Track and Field and Cross Country legend Ed Ramirez was also inducted after one of the most dominant athletic careers in Oxnard College history. During the 1976–77 season, Ramirez won the Western State Conference, Southern California, and California State Cross Country Championships while remaining undefeated in every cross country and track race during his Oxnard College career. He also captured conference championships in the 5,000m and 10,000m and earned State and Southern California titles in the 5,000m. His remarkable performances remain among the finest distance-running accomplishments in school history. Ramirez later transferred to California Lutheran University, where he continued his successful collegiate running career.
"This Hall of Fame celebration represents the tradition, pride, and sense of family that make Oxnard College Athletics so special," said Athletic Director Jonas Crawford. "The stories shared by family members, former teammates, and colleagues truly demonstrated how athletics can positively shape lives far beyond competition."
The event featured a panel-style conversation centered on leadership, perseverance, and the importance of athletics in developing future professionals and community leaders. Guests reflected on how their experiences as student-athletes helped prepare them for success in their careers and personal lives.
The Oxnard College Athletic Department extends sincere appreciation to the Oxnard College Foundation, Dr. Carolyn Inouye, event volunteers, alumni supporters, and all attendees who helped make the evening a tremendous success.
The Oxnard College Hall of Fame continues to honor the rich legacy of Condor Athletics while inspiring future generations of student-athletes to pursue excellence both on and off the field.
